What is the difference between the KonMari Method vs. other organizing methods?

I'm sure you have tried other methods before, but only to rebounded right back where you started. We all have spent years trying. The KonMari difference is once and never again, and encourages you to tidy by category

Is this a minimalist lifestyle?

It is not a numbers game. However, the less you have, provides you with the space to add more time, more freedom, more energy, and more JOY!

How long is it going to take?

That depends on you! Think of it as training for a marathon, slow and steady wins the race. This is not a sprint. Decluttering a house once and for all, takes time.

Do I need to prepare anything before I start?

Yes! Be prepared to part with things that no longer bring you joy and have served their purpose.

Do I need to purchase any storage containers?

Please don't. There's no need at this time. This is not about expensive organizational products and you probably already have what it takes. Plus, I offer plenty of storage advice, love to repurpose things, come up with creative solutions, and if necessary I will bring some supplies (optional for purchase).

Do I need to read the book?

No, but it sure makes your life more easy. It puts you into action and helps your marathon run go more smoothly.

Can you sell or remove my stuff?

This is a very good question and the most common one. In the decluttering process this part has major impact. Coming full circle, this is the most rewarding part with the most satisfaction, and I would hate for you to lose out on that experience. Please don't worry though, I provide plenty of resources to move things along as quickly as possible. However, in order to avoid any set backs (insert tough love) responsibility and accountability are essential. We will coordinate deadlines, set time limits for decisions, and work through all options that best suit your needs with each decisions there is to make.

I read the book, why do I need to hire you?

If you can do it on your own - go for it! Hiring me is for those who need the support and are ready to invest in something that works - you deserve it!

My spouse/partner is messy. Can I do this for him/her?

No, you can not do it for any family member. It has to be initiated by yourself, for yourself. Besides. you'll notice that tidying is contagious and any family members in your household will likely jump on the tidying train with you.

Are you going to tell me what to keep and what to get rid of?

What you keep is entirely up to you. Remember, you're not choosing what to get rid of, but rather what to keep. Once we get started you will get the hang of it. Put simply, you like it - you keep it. Although in order for the magic to happen in your life, it requires creating space to let the sun shine in.

I'm not quite sure what joy is. How will I know, and what should I do with it?

Remember, I will be there to help guild you through the process. You will learn the "Spark Joy" method, putting the item in one of three piles, KEEP, GIVE, TOSS. You will also learn how to "Let It Go". Completing each category before moving on to the next, you will get the vision of what you want your life to look like. But before you get started, ask yourself "AM I READY? If so, then let's do this!

Why do I have to take everything out of its place?

It is vitally important to see what you have in each category. By taking everything out, it makes you aware of how much stuff you own. In my experience, people are shocked when they realize they have 3X the amount they thought they did.

I am so embarrassed, what if my neighbours find out?

Confidentiality is something we take very seriously and we will not disclose any client information to anyone. Remember, we are on the same team. Also, there is no time or place for judgement in my practice. Any Before/After photos that are taken are solely for you to see your progress. Should we wish to use any of your project photos for promotional purposes, prior client consent will be requested. In the end, you'll be so proud of your accomplishments that you might even want to share your photos and encourage others to take on the tidying challenge!
